Mrs Phani Shivanand

Mrs. Phani Shivanand was born on 07 Jul and became a part of Indian Air Force family after getting married to Air Marshal PV Shivanand on 25 Dec 94. She is a graduate in Home Science (Interior Design) from Madras University and subsequently completed a Diploma in Interior Design and Environment (Hudson, Jenson & Nicholson Group). In addition, she is a B.Ed. from Annamalai University, has done a Certification Course in Entrepreneurship from Govt. of Gujarat and an Entrepreneurship Course through National Commission for Women (NCW), IIM Bengaluru. She is a sportswoman having been a six-time school champion in athletics and has represented her University in Cricket at the National Level. She also represented Tamil Nadu state in Hockey.

She has accompanied the Air Marshal in all his assignments in India and abroad. During the past three decades, she has been actively involved with AFFWA activities and has worked for various social causes during her stay at different Air Force Stations. As an active AFFWA member, she has been the Secretary of Ladies Club in Uttarlai, Jodhpur, AFFWA Secretary in HQ SWAC, President AFFWA (Local) at AFS Chabua and has also been the Manageress at ‘Santushti’, an AFFWA thrift shop at Air HQ, Tejas Camp.

Her journey also includes a tenure in Washington, DC wherein she worked as Treasurer in the International Air Force Spouses Club. She organized an event for children at the International children festival and participated in the International festival organized by Air Force Officers Spouses Club, Washington, DC. She avidly pursues her interests in art and has been the principal illustrator and writer for an International book “Mini Hearts”- a collaborative effort by women from 17 different countries. She has also served on the Editorial Board of the IAF ‘Sangini’ Magazine for two consecutive years. Prior to assuming her current role as President AFFWA (R) SWAC, she was the Vice President AFFWA (R) at HQ CAC, Prayagraj.

Her hobbies include Drawing Caricatures, Painting, Food-Plating, Listening to Music, Travelling and Golf. She is also learning to play the Veena. She has two sons, Abhinav and Akaash.
